Goodwill Expands Job Connection Program to Augusta

AUGUSTA, Maine. (WABI) Goodwill has launched a new program for Augusta-area residents looking to find good jobs locally.

Job Connection started in Portland and expanded to Bangor a few months ago.

Now it's starting a mobile team in the capital city.

The program gives each participant a licensed social worker and a career adviser to help with life's challenges as well as job training.

To enroll, you must also be eligible for SNAP benefits.

"Job Connection takes a holistic approach and what that means is that we marry the best practices of social work with workforce development. So we're not just sticking people into jobs, we're helping them work through life's challenges one by one. Whatever stands in their way of employment, we want to help them sort through those things," said Heather Steeves, Spokesperson for Goodwill Northern New England.

The program is supported by the Department of Health and Human Services.
