GARDINER, Maine (WABI) - Johnson Hall in Gardiner recently reached a huge milestone in their capital campaign.
They hit the $3 million mark in fundraising to renovate Johnson Hall.
They're close to two thirds of the way to their $4.9 million goal.
They have a smaller studio theatre downstairs but the historic theatre hasn't held a performance since 1956.
The renovated theatre would seat 400 and be able to host big-time national performers.
"To get that historic theatre open -- it's been a dream of so many people in this community," says Michael Miclon, Executive Artistic Director of Johnson Hall. "My mentors - the people that taught me about theatre - are the ones that came here in Gardiner and were part of that original team so for me to see it come to fruition will just be a phenomenal event. I think it will be amazing for the community and then personally it will just mean a lot."
