BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The 2018 Tourism and Hospitality Eagle Awards were announced Tuesday.
The Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau is recognizing two people and three organizations for their contributions to the Bangor area.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to World War II Veteran Galen Cole.
He's the manager of the Cole Land Transportation Museum and the Veterans Walking Sticks program, and was chosen for those and numerous other activities.
Cole and the others were chosen for the mark they've made on the area.
"It's really about impact that they've brought to this community, impact they've brought to our region whether that is through bringing people here, whether that is enhancing what is around us already it's about helping us promote ourselves as a visitor destination," said Kerrie Tripp the Executive Director of the Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Risteen Bahr who recently retired from her job as the marketing manager at Bangor International Airport is the Individual Achievement award winner.
The Maine Basketball Hall of Fame will receive the Organizational Achievement Award.
Bangor International airport wins the CVB Partnership Award and the Maine Science Festival will be given the Impact Award.
There will be a presentation May 17th at the Cross Center in Bangor.
