Front Street Shipyard in Belfast celebrates expansion

BELFAST, Maine (WABI) - A waterfront company in Belfast celebrated a new expansion Wednesday.

Front Street Shipyard is a boat building company established in 2011.

They held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Building Six.

The company received a federal grant to help pay for the new
22,000 square foot facility and the machines inside.

We're told this will also create 40 more jobs for the business.

"I have watched the development of this shipyard over the years, and it is extraordinary how it has grown," said Sen. Susan Collins.

"We're really excited. Now, it's like, finish up the little details, let's get boats inside, let's get to work. Very, very excited about that," said JB Turner, Front Street Shipyard President.

Front Street Shipyard President JB Turner says they hope to continue to add to their growing employee base.
