BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - There is a free adoption event for anyone looking for a new pet this weekend.
The Bangor Humane Society is waiving all adoption fees for this Saturday from 10am until 6pm thanks to a grant from the ASPCA and in partnership with Quirk Subaru of Bangor.
The goal of the event is to find a new home for all of the cats, dogs, and small animals like rabbits in the shelter.
All of the animals will be vet checked, microchipped and ready to go home this Saturday, they are not changing how they make sure the perfect match is made, said the Director of Development and Public Relations for the Bangor Humane Society Stacey Coventry. "Anything that will be up for adoption will be free but I know sometimes that makes people nervous but we promise we will still be doing our normal adoption policies making good matches everyone who adopts will be entered in an adoption give away, we'll have adoption photos courtesy of Quirk Subaru with your new pet, it's going to be really fun. It's a celebration it's a way for local businesses and us to say thank you by giving a free adoption in hopes to clear the shelters and get everybody home but we will not be giving up our normal adoption policies."
The Humane Society is expecting a big crowd for this event and their doors open at 10. If you are in line early they will give you a number while you wait.
They are also doing a pet food and supply drive during the day Saturday.
