Former part time police officer sentenced to jail after causing damages at Brewer business in 2017
A former police officer is behind bars after pleading guilty to causing extensive damage at a Brewer business.
Police say 40-year-old Nick Fletcher of Bangor set a pile of tires on fire at Twin City Trucks and More on Halloween morning 2017.
Flames spread to a trailer containing welding equipment and engine parts.
Police say tires were slashed on some vehicles and registrations and stickers were stolen from trucks.
Brake and gas lines on a tow truck were cut, too.
There was more than $40,000 in total damage.
Brewer Police and the Fire Marshal's Office investigated and later charged Fletcher with arson.
In court, Fletcher pled guilty to aggravated criminal mischief and trespassing.
He was sentenced to a month in jail.
The Maine Criminal Justice Academy said he began working in law enforcement in 2001 but has not worked for a police department since 2012.
