BLUE HILL, Maine (WABI) - The former treasurer of Blue Hill has been cleared of charges of stealing nearly $18,000 from the town.

A jury found 39-year-old Jody Murphy not guilty of theft this week after a one-day trial.

She was indicted last summer.

The attorney general's office began investigating Murphy after town selectmen found discrepancies during a routine audit in 2017.

Murphy was placed on administrative leave, then resigned a few months later.
