BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor has joined a network to help stroke patients.
The National Institutes of Health StrokeNET is a federally funded program.
They say it works on clinical trials for stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery.
EMMC officials say this is big news for their medical team and especially for their patients.
"This is phenomenal, both for us for physicals and for patients, and the great news is they can do this therapy right here and close to home so they don't have to go to Boston to get this therapy," says Jillian Gordon Peru, the medical director of EMMC's stroke center.
We're told EMMC will be the only center in Maine to work with the network.
