BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A new partnership between Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems and the US Army will create job opportunities for veterans.
The Army provides accredited medical training, but many veterans struggle to find employment when they return to civilian life.
The US Army Partnership for Youth Success program guarantees an interview for a medical position upon a solider's return home.
It's a unique opportunity for veterans to serve their country while preparing for their futures.
"We hope certainly that this partnership that we have with the Army, although it's the first in the state of Maine, we certainly hope it's the first of many."
"And to provide you with quality and very very talented young men and women who have served their country honorably and who want to continue serving."
EMHS has nearly 400 veteran employees across their statewide system.
They also participate in the Maine Hire-A-Vet Campaign, where organizations from across the state are asked to collectively hire 100 vets in 100 days.
