BANGOR, Maine (WABI) The Downeast Emergency Medicine Institue Search and Rescue held a training day in Bangor on Saturday.

The event took place at the Maine General Aviation Terminal.

Folks there tinkered with Huey helicopters, Humvee and rescue boats.

Organizers say it is a good way to stay prepared for any challenges they may face during an operation.

"We all get to team build, and get to know each other here, and know our strengths and our weaknesses, and see what we all have here for assets, because you might come and only see one part of it on a search," said Robert Bowie, DEEMI Medical Director. "Just the Humvee for instance, but you won't realize that also there's a whole team of guys that are searching. they're working with the helicopters, or the fixed wings, or the uavs."
