Dance planned for local project that raises awareness about developmental challenges

OLD TOWN, Maine (WABI) - Organizers of an effort to raise awareness about people with developmental challenges are hoping folks will get on the dance floor soon.

The Courageous Steps Project is hosting a Masquerade Ball fundraiser.

The Courageous Steps Project was founded by Connor Archer in 2014, when he revealed his story of learning to live with the challenges of Autism, a disorder that impacts your language and social skills.

The organization's mission strives to raise awareness of developmental challenges for children and young adults and channels resources to enhance their success in school and in life. The vision is to work to help people of various abilities to step courageously beyond obstacles and towards a fulfilling life.

The Courageous Steps Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization. Since 2014, The Courageous Steps Project has supported 35+ programs in Eastern Maine, involved 1,000+ individuals in an awareness campaign continuing to strengthen and donated boxes of school supplies to nearly 3 dozen schools in Eastern Maine.

A Masquerade For Awareness Ball is set for Saturday, March 24th at the Morgan Hill Event Center in Hermon from 7pm-11pm.

Online registration is open until Tuesday, March 13th. This event is only open to those 18 years and older. Individuals are $25 and Couples are $45.
