DHHS moving to new location in Bangor, council votes to add bus shelter

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Department of Health and Human Services is moving to a new Bangor office.

DHHS will be moving from it's current location off Griffin Road to Maine Avenue, the building that was the home of Bangor Savings Bank offices.

Monday night the Bangor City Council voted to build a bus shelter at the new location.

"On Maine Avenue just around the corner from Hammond Street and on that corner where Bangor Savings is, their operation center right now, DHHS, the Department of Health and Human Services is going to be moving their office space there," said Councilor Dan Tremble. "I think it's going to be probably sometime late spring or early summer. Probably summertime by the time they get out there."

DHHS had been looking for a new space for a few years.

Like Tremble said, there is no set timetable for the move, but, city officials say it will happen within the calendar year.
