BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A convicted killer who's accused of escaping from the prison in Charleston in September was in court in Bangor Thursday.

65-year-old Arnold Nash pled not guilty to intentionally leaving the Mountain View Correctional Facility.

He was serving the final year of a 45-year-sentence for previous crimes.

Police say after four days of freedom Nash was seen by a deputy walking along Route 15.

He surrendered and told the deputy he hadn't eaten for days.

Nash had escaped before.

In 1981, he and another convicted murderer fled from the prison farm in warren.

Nash is being held at the Penobscot County Jail on $100,000 bail.
