Collins, King vote to pass Opioid Crisis Response Act of 2018
Maine senators Susan Collins and Angus King voted to pass the Opioid Crisis Response Act of 2018 yesterday.
The bill passed by a vote of 99-1.
Senator Collins is a member of the Senate Health Committee and she authored two of the more than 70 proposals.
Four federal agencies are involved, with the overall goal to address the crisis, including the ripple effects of the crisis on children, families, and communities.
They also want to help states implement updates to their plans of safe care, and improve data sharing between states.
A few of the topics addressed in the bill include opioid packaging, safe disposal systems, recovery centers, prescription limits and drug monitoring programs.
