Christmas day fire in Mariaville

A fully involved structure fire was called in just before noon in Mariaville.

Authorities say a man lives there alone but was not home at the time.

We are told the home is a complete loss.

An excavator was brought in to clean up the debris.

We are told flames and smoke could be seen all the way to Ellsworth.

"Full involved. The structure was already falling down. There was no saving the structure itself. It was containing the structure then getting water in. The gentleman's home, he actually lives here year round. I think some people may describe it sort of like a treehouse type of a house. It started up top and went all the way down to the bottom."

No word yet on a cause.
