Children's flu clinic to be held in Bangor Thursday

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Bangor Police Department is partnering with Public Health and Community Services for a flu shot clinic for kids.

It will take place on the second floor of the Police Department Thursday from 3pm-5pm.

Nurses will provide the flu vaccinations for children 6-months to 18 years old.

It is a first come, first served basis.

Health officials say getting the vaccine is the best protection against four of the worst strains of influenza expected this year.

"The flu is here in Maine already, which is unusual for us. It usually doesn't arrive until January or so so this is early. It's a good time to get your shot now if you can.," said Bangor's Public Health Director, Patty Hamilton.

There is no cost for the flu shots.
