AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Child abuse prevention advocates were at the State House today.
Several agencies along with law enforcement teamed up to educate lawmakers and the public about abuse and neglect issues.
Governor LePage also spoke during the press conference to announce he was looking into the state’s prevention system.

"I am personally leading our review of our statewide child protection system. In the past month, we have already identified several areas where improvements are needed, but we are digging deeper. If you are a mandatory reporter and see something that causes you to wonder about child abuse, do not check with your supervisor or talk to colleagues. Just report."

The event is meant to kick off Child Abuse Prevention Month which begins in April.
