"Care Force One" stopped at Waterfront Park in Bangor Monday.

The bus is so named as part of the "Protect Our Care" nationwide tour.

The tour calls for the defense of the Affordable Care Act and other healthcare protections.

Healthcare advocates and local officials spoke at the event, stressing the importance of health insurance and health care expansion.

Laura Packard described her struggle with paying for cancer care and how the Affordable Care Act helped her.

Laura Packard, Healthcare Advocate for Protect Our Care says, "Accidents can happen to anybody at any time. And if you live long enough you will have a pre-existing condition too. So we're here to spread the word about the Republican attacks on health care and make sure everyone is informed about what they can do."

The tour will cover more than 11,000 miles with 48 scheduled events over the next six weeks.
