BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.

Partners for Peace is part of a state-wide effort dedicated to ending domestic abuse.

They've teamed up with the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence, and Take Action Maine, in a social media campaign.

Whether you have a personal connection or want to advocate for the cause, you can simply post a picture holding this sign using the hashtag #TakeActionMaine or #TeenDVMonth2018 .

"So, one in three teenagers will experience dating violence and that is a staggering number," said Adriana Gleason of Partners for Peace. "So we want to make sure that there is as much awareness as possible, especially when it comes to the warning signs. So people know what to be on the lookout for."

If someone is abusing you, or if you're concerned about someone you know, call Partners for Peace on their confidential 24-hour hotline. 1-800-863-9909.
