DEDHAM, Maine (WABI) - Camp Capella is $200,000 closer to their goal of building two new camper cabins.
The estimated cost of the project is $600,000.
The Sunshine Lady Foundation previously granted the camp $200,000 to get them started but offered them a chance to raise more funds for matching.
If the camp could raise $100,000 by January 31st, The Sunshine Lady Foundation would match that too.
Thanks to the community, they've done it!
Heidi Riggs, Camp Director says, "Camp Capella is a program for individuals with disabilities. We have a traditional summer camp program that runs about 7 weeks every summer."
Harvey Chesley, Facilities and Development Director says, "It means the world to us. The last couple of years we've had a waiting list for our overnight campers. We have decided that we need another camper cabin, a bunk house and this money is going to help us get there."
The camp has raised close to $423,000 so far for the project.
