Camden area school district participates in first ever Remote School Day

CAMDEN, Maine (WABI) A midcoast school district is participating in a *remote* school day, a first for Maine public schools.

The superintendent of MSAD 28 and Five Town CSD says this approach could change the way schools approach snow days.

In a Village Soup report school district leaders says it mirrors how adults work at home instead of traveling in poor weather.

They say students learning from home via the internet reduces the number of makeup days they'd have in summer.

After seeing the forecast, teachers made sure the students had their tablets charged so they could use e-mail and have access to their assignments.

They say accommodations are in place for students who don't have internet access at home.

All grades and all schools are participating.
