BREWER, Maine (WABI) - A pair of high schools are putting their rivalry to good use in the fight against cancer.
We stopped by the Brewer High School Cheer practice Wednesday afternoon as they prepared to go up against Hampden.
The Links of Hope Cheer Challenge has had both squads raising money in a friendly competition to see who can collect the most donations for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Penobscot County by selling paper links at one dollar a piece.
Thursday night at halftime of the basketball game against the Broncos they will find a winner by seeing whose chain is longer.
"Good like friendly competition between us in Hampden and I'm glad that we're doing it because it's going to a good cause," said BHS Junior Erica Karp. "I have loved ones that have struggled with battling cancer, so, I just think this is a really good cause to get the word out."
The game tips off Thursday night at Brewer High School at 7.
