NORTH YARMOUTH, Maine (WABI) Officials have confirmed that the body found Friday in North Yarmouth is that of missing teacher Kristin Westra.
The 47-year-old elementary school teacher was last seen a week ago at her home in North Yarmouth and was reported missing Monday morning by her husband.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Westra's body was found 500 to 600 yards into the woods off Route 231, which is also known as Gray Road about a half-mile from her home.
The Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined her death to be suicide.
Friends and family held a vigil Saturday for Westra.
Westra's brother said his sister had been dealing with some stress at home and at work surrounding renovations going on at both locations.
