BELFAST, Maine (WABI) - Belfast is making a big move to improve the efficiency of their facilities.
The City Council approved a plan to connect 11 city facilities with a fiber optic network.
That includes City Hall, the airport, and the police station.
"Will help different departments communicate with each other and do their jobs quicker and also improve our network security which has been a goal of the city for backing up data and having more robust security," says Thomas Kittredge, Economic Development Director for the City of Belfast.
Officials also say they're working on expanding broadband access to all of Belfast in the coming years.
