No styrofoam or plastic bags.

That decision from the Belfast City Council Tuesday night.

They voted unanimously to pass two ordinances, banning the use of Styrofoam products or single use plastic bags in the city.

Area residents were behind the proposal, launching several volunteer movements over the past year concerning its affect on the environment.

Belfast now joins several Maine communities that have passed similar ordinances.
