BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A downtown Bangor business invites you to a night of shopping and giving back.
Maine Jewelry & Art is hosting a moonlight shopping and fundraising event this week.
The shop is owned by three jewelry designers and features Maine-made pieces.
The after-hours event is to benefit NAMI Maine.
The non-profit provides support, education and advocacy for people living with mental illness and those supporting them.
Amanda Coburn is one of the store owners.
She says she has a personal connection to mental illness and hopes events like this can help end the stigma around it.
"As someone who has struggled with depression my entire life and I have family and loved ones who also struggle with depression and I lost two family members to suicide over the years, it's an important organization that does a lot for the community," says Coburn.
You're invited to join them from 6pm to 8pm Friday.
Maine Jewelry & Art is located at 100 Harlow Street in Bangor.
The event will feature live entertainment from local musician Shannon Denbow.
There will also be refreshments.
A portion of their sales will go to NAMI Maine.
