Bangor business giving back during breast cancer awareness month

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - It's breast cancer awareness month and a downtown Bangor business is giving back to help those affected.

Accents Home Furnishings and Décor on Harlow Street has teamed up with Lola Arts out of Portland for a pretty and pink fundraiser.

For the month of October, people can purchase hand-crafted pink ornaments in the shape of the state.

The limited edition ornaments are $12 each.

20% of the sales will be donated to the Maine Cancer Foundation.

That will help with breast cancer screenings, education, and research for patients here in Maine.

"I think we all know somebody, whether it's a family member, or a friend, or someone we went to school with or co-worker who has been affected by cancer at some point. I think we have an opportunity, as retailers and people in the community, to give back when we can," said Accents Owner, Alicia Tozier.

After people purchase the ornaments. they can sign ribbons to be added to the memorial tree in the store.

Ornaments can also be bought through the store website at accentshfd.com.
