BMV branches upgrading computer and phone systems; some half-day closings to come

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - If you're thinking about getting that new driver's license over the next five weeks, make sure your nearest BMV is open before you go.

Each of the 13 BMV branches will be closed for a half day at some point in February or March.

This is to allow for updates to computer and phone systems.

Secretary of State Matt Dunlap says these updates will help the BMV.

"It's going to improve the speed of our services, our network security as much as anything," said Dunlap. "We're going to have more secure wifi, which is something -- not all of our branches have wifi available to the public, so that's going an update as well."

Here are the closings, via the Secretary of State's office.
