BANGOR, Maine. (WABI) - Search efforts continue for a Bangor man last seen a week ago near the Bangor Walmart.

Authorities said when 47-year-old Thomas Lynch Jr. saw police officers near the store around 6.

They said he took off and hasn't been seen since.

Witnesses said he entered the woods behind Kobe Grill.

DEEMI Search and Rescue ramped up their search efforts Saturday afternoon.

Police said there’s no reason to believe that lynch is dangerous.

Richard Bowie, DEEMI Search, and Rescue said, "Our biggest concern is the cell phone operation seized about 10 minutes after he fled. That may have been because he just turned the phone off but then again he would've turned the phone back on He was not in harm’s way. So, something happened in that short time we believe to him. And that's caused some concern so that's why we're ramping up resources and continue to look for him.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Bangor Police at 947-7384 or DEEMI at 866-2109.
