Augusta's Calumet Club to Host First-Ever Food Truck Friday

AUGUSTA, Maine. (WABI) 'One last hoorah to end the summer' is how organizers are describing Food Truck Friday.

The Calumet Club in Augusta will be host to at least ten food truck vendors Friday night.

From Greek food, to ice cream, to burgers, there'll be something for everyone in the parking lot of the club on West River Road.

Club Vice President Lisa Newell says the event was created as a farewell to summer and she thought about 200 people might attend.

But as more folks called in to get tickets for the club's first-ever food truck event, that number could be as high as five times that.

"We're trying to do things out of the box from the normality of the club- what we used to do, we're trying to open us up to different things and this is a start. I think it's going to be great! I think it's going to be great for the club, it's going to be great for the community and I have a feeling there will be 1000 people here. And we'll be ready," said Gerard Lapierre, President of Le Club Calumet.

The event is free, but organizers say folks who want to attend should call ahead to reserve a ticket. It's from 5:30 to 8:30 Friday night.
