AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - The 30th annual Northeast Motorsports Expo kicked off at the Augusta Civic Center on Friday.

Stephen Perry, the host of a local TV show showcasing Maine auto racing called 'Mainely Motorsports,' took over as owner and promoter of the expo nine years ago.

He says the event brings racing fans from all walks of life to meet their favorite racers and talk shop.

The three-day expo and trade show includes special guest presenters, raffles, prizes, and the annual pit stop challenge.

"You see the drivers out of uniform and just talking racing, you know, rehashing a little bit of the 2017 season, but getting geared up to talk about the 2018 season," said Perry.

It runs Saturday from 10-9 and Sunday from 10-3.
