UNITY, Maine (WABI) - Unity College President Dr. Melik Peter Khoury visited the TV5 studios this morning to talk about the upcoming Public Safety and Crisis Management Institute.
The institute takes place on June 21 and June 22 at Unity College. It will deliver workshops that include topics such as active shooters, critical incident and stress management, crisis, disaster and emergency management plans, on scene bereavement support and death notification, environmental protection, bomb threats, chemical safety and hazardous materials.
All workshops are designed to demonstrate how topic areas may be addressed should they occur in a real-world situation.
Attendees are eligible for a Professional Development Certificate of Attendance in Public Safety Crisis Management.
The keynote speaker is Mr. Karl Colder of the DEA. Workshop speakers include Mr William Smith from the Georgia Institute of Technology Office of Emergency Preparedness, Ms. Regina Phillips of the Westbrook School Department, and Westbrook Police chief Janine Roberts, Portland Police Chief Michael J. Sauschuck, Maine Warden Service Chaplain Kate Braestrup and Maine Warden Service Lieutenant Kevin Adam.
The Institute goes from 4:45 p.m. To 7:30 p.m. On June 21 and 7 a.m. To 4:30 p.m. On June 22.
Registration fees range between $80 for Thursday meal and materials only to $275 for the full package of both days materials, meals and accommodations.
