Catherine joined the TV5 news team in June of 2005 to begin her second television tour of duty in Bangor. And now she’s here to stay.
Catherine graduated from Northwestern University and the Medill School of Journalism with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism. She started her broadcast career in 1994 as a producer at WLBZ NewsCenter 2 in Bangor. She eventually moved into a reporter position. Catherine left Bangor in 1998 for a morning anchor/reporter position in Pensacola, Florida at WEAR TV. In 2000, she moved to Oklahoma City where she worked as a fill-in anchor/reporter for KWTV News 9. Catherine then returned to Bangor as co-anchor of TV5 News at Five. She has also co-anchored TV5 News at Six. Catherine then moved to the anchor desk on TV5 News at Noon to better mirror her family’s schedule. In 2020, she resumed full-time responsibilities in the newsroom, being named Assistant News Director in addition to her anchoring duties.
Catherine is originally from the Kansas City, Missouri area - Independence to be exact. But Maine is now her home. This is where she met and married her husband, Jeff Solari - a native of Bar Harbor and local sports broadcaster and business entrepreneur. It's here, in February 2009, that they gave birth to their twin daughters. The instant family of four is happy to call Bangor home.
