Child recovered, Waterville man arrested for kidnapping 

WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Fairfield Police say a missing 4-year-old was found early Saturday after a search that led investigators from Fairfield to Waterville.

Officers were called to Main Street in Fairfield around 1:57 a.m. on Saturday for a report of a missing child.

Police said they arrived and searched the residence but did not find the child.

Additional resources were requested, including more officers, K-9 units and the fire department.

Authorities said information gathered during the search led them to a home in Waterville, where the child was located.

The child was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Police arrested Brandon Phair, 37, of Waterville and charged him with kidnapping and criminal restraint.

Phair was taken to the Somerset County Jail where his bail was set at $500,000.

Police said more charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.

Investigators added Phair is not related to the child but is known to one of the residents at the Fairfield home.
