AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - A candidate for Knox County sheriff whose nomination was challenged is eligible for the November ballot, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows said.
Knox County Deputy Daniel Landers filed a challenge accusing Albert Joy of not meeting the required two-year minimum for supervisory experience needed to run for a sheriff position.
Bellows issued her decision Thursday, saying Landers did not meet the burden of proof required to disqualify Joy from the ballot.
Landers can appeal the decision to Superior Court.
A recording on the hearing can be viewed on the Secretary of State’s YouTube page.
