Voting now underway for Maine primaries

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Thousands of Mainers are now voting in primaries elections across the state to choose their nominees for Governor, U.S. Senate, Maine’s Second Congressional District, and a Republican for the First District.
The polls opened at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor at 7 Tuesday morning.
Bangor City Clerk Lisa Goodwin said voting was going smoothly and urged anyone looking to register to vote today that they need to have an ID and proof of residency in order to register.
“If you have changed your name, please bring something that has that name change to show that you have legally changed your name,” said Goodwin.
For those who opted to vote via an absentee ballot, Goodwin says they have until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday to drop off at the Cross Insurance Center.
