Limestone man suffers life-threatening injuries in crash with garbage truck
LIMESTONE, Maine (WAGM) - A Limestone man suffered life-threatening injuries after his vehicle struck a parked garbage truck Wednesday morning.
Deputies from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported motor vehicle crash on Main Street in Limestone shortly after 6 a.m.
The initial report indicated that a passenger vehicle had collided with a garbage truck.
A 2015 Freightliner garbage truck owned by Caldwell’s Sanitation was parked along the roadside while collecting trash.
The passenger vehicle, a 2014 Ford Fusion operated by 43-year-old Joseph Poisson of Limestone, struck the parked Freightliner garbage truck.
Poisson was transported to Cary Medical Center in Caribou for treatment and later to Bangor via LifeFlight.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Caribou Ambulance Service, the Limestone Fire Department, a crash reconstructionist from the Presque Isle Police Department, Fort Fairfield Police Department, a drone pilot from the Maine State Police, and the Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit.
