Gov. Mills hosts Bangor roundtable to discuss plans if elected as U.S. Senator
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Gov. Mills, as a part of her U.S. Senate Campaign, visited a small Bangor business and hosted a roundtable with business owners and former state lawmakers.
Mills began by stopping by The Briar Patch children’s bookstore downtown Bangor.
Next she headed to Bookspace down the street to discuss with community members issues she hopes to solve in Washington.
These included ways to address healthcare concerns, housing and speaking on how to keep small businesses thriving in Maine.
“When I thought about doing this last fall, I thought ‘I can’t not do this.’ The times are too urgent, things are too dangerous in Washington and across this country and I can’t sit still and not do everything that I can to change up what’s going on in Washington, change out who’s in Congress and get stuff done. Go down there and kick butt,” said Mills.
Mills recently stopped booking advertising. Friday when asked about it she responded by saying ‘We don’t need to. ’Saying that her strategy has always been and remains retail politics with Maine locals.
Mills faces off against Graham Platner in the Democratic primary, who was campaigning in Orono on Wednesday. That is scheduled for June 9th.
