Penobscot Valley to meet Mt. Abram in Class D state girls basketball title game
Saturday at 2:35 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center
HOWLAND, Maine (WABI) - The No. 4 Penobscot Valley Howlers are back in a state title game as North champs after winning it all in Class C last year.
This time, they’re up against South champion and No. 1 Mount Abram in the Class D Gold Ball game.
“It’s just a matter of getting back to work for this week. We were excited to get to practice for another week so we can put everything together at the state game,” said Rylee Moulton, senior guard.
“They’re a very defensive-minded team, and we like to score, so we’ll have to see how that goes,” said Lila Cummings, senior forward.
“I think honestly just sticking to the work that got us here and never settling (will be key). Winning the regionals this time felt even better to know that we have what it takes to stay at the top,” said Brooklynn Raymond, junior guard.
The Howlers knocked out No. 5 Southern Aroostook, No. 1 Bangor Christian, and No. 2 Machias this tourney season.
Tipoff between Penobscot Valley and Mt. Abram is Saturday at 2:35 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
