Machias prepares for state boys basketball championship against Monmouth Academy

MACHIAS, Maine (WABI) - The Machias Bulldogs held their No. 1 seed on the way to the Class D North title with victories over No. 8 Central Aroostook, No. 5 Hodgdon, and No. 2 Madawaska.

The Bulldogs are preparing to face the No. 2 Monmouth Academy Mustangs, who won the South and are two years removed from a state title of their own.

“We can play any style. We have the size. We have the shooting. We have the rim-running and the attacking. I’m just excited to play them. I’m excited to get the chance to play here. I’m excited to show Maine what Machias has been working on for the last four years,” said Liam O’Connor, senior guard.

Machias and Monmouth Academy will meet in the state championship on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
