Gardiner moves past Hermon into Class B North title game
No. 3 Tigers 50, No. 2 Hawks 33
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Gardiner Tigers beat the Hermon Hawks, 50-33, in the Class B North semifinals.
It’s been a long journey for the Tigers’ seniors.
“Holy cow, we’ve come so far. From winning three games our freshman year, then four games our sophomore year, turning it up in our junior year, and then here in our senior year. It feels really good. This group has worked so hard since we were in third grade playing travel ball together. It just feels really good. I’m so happy to be here. We knew it was going to be a defensive battle. In the first quarter, we were going back and forth with no score. We knew we just had to play good defense, get rebounds, we wanted Hermon to be one-and-done, and then get out in transition,” said Brady Peacock, senior guard.
The Tigers will take on the winner of the No. 1 Cony-No. 5 Ellsworth semifinal.
The Class B North Championship is set for Friday at 6:45 p.m. at Cross Insurance Center.
