Maine falls to Vermont in America East Field Hockey semifinals

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WABI) - No. 5 Maine’s field hockey season ended in the America East semifinals, 1-0, in a shootout against the No. 1 Vermont Catamounts.

The Black Bears went 1-4 on attempts, while Vermont went 3-4 to win.

Both teams failed to capitalize on a penalty stroke in the first half as they played to a scoreless game all the way to the shootout.

Maine finished the season with a 7-12 record.

Vermont advances to host No. 2 New Hampshire in the America East Championship on Friday at 1 p.m.
