BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - When a big concert like Shania Twain comes to town, it’s certainly a boost for businesses in the area.

However, one food bank says they’ll be able to fund 50,000 meals after Wednesday’s show.

Shania Twain presented a $25,000 check to Good Shepherd Food Bank before performing her hits.

Robin McCarthy from the food bank was with Twain to receive the check.

“What was amazing to me was that she was taking time to connect with fans and with the foundation recipients right before she went on stage. It was really the last thing she did before she performed. So, we were incredibly grateful for the gift. We took a quick picture with her, then we found our seats and moments later she started the show and it was wonderful,” said McCarthy, Good Shepherd Food Bank chief advancement officer.

Those from the food bank say she continues to make similar donations across her tour route.

They add that large audiences seeing these presentations, including a crowd of over 17,000 in Bangor, also help raise awareness of food insecurity.
