BUCKSPORT, Maine (WABI) - It was a beautiful day to come together for a long-time tradition in Bucksport on Saturday: the annual Bucksport Bay Festival.

There was something for everyone, too, including good food, fun music, and of course, that beautiful view.

Festival-goers say it wouldn’t be the same without the parade rolling through downtown.

People lined the streets to wave to the first responders, as well as different clubs and organizations that make Bucksport what it is every day.

Festival volunteers and residents we spoke to say it’s the people who make their town so special.

They say sharing Bucksport and the memories made during the festival with people visiting their town is something they look forward to every year.

“It makes me feel proud of our community, everyone coming together to support the town and the people I love, getting to see the people from all over saying how they come here every year. This is for us. It means the world,” says Abigail Rotella, who has volunteered at the festival for several years now.

“I think it’s great, especially our little hometown here, I think it’s perfect, you know, giving revenue and stuff to what businesses we have here,” says Cammie Sheehan-Harriman, who tells us she has lived in Bucksport for most of her life and comes to the festival every year.

The fun continued with fireworks launched from over Fort Knox over the Penobscot River at 9:15 pm on Saturday.

Over at Fort Knox, the Friends of Fort Knox will continue their immersive American Civil War reenactment on Sunday.

They say the event features authentic demonstrations, representing life during the Civil War era, and is open to visitors of all ages.
