Maine Emergency Management Agency urges storm preparedness
AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - The Maine Emergency Management Agency is urging the public to be prepared for the upcoming storm.
With wind gusts expected upwards of seventy miles per hour, widespread power outages are likely.
The agency wants Mainers to prepare for wet snow, heavy rain, and slippery road conditions.
For those using generators, it’s important to do so safely which means keeping them outside twenty feet away from windows and doors.
”The state emergency operations center will be activated on Wednesday. We’ll be monitoring storm conditions, power outages, roads to really see what’s going on and coordinating with our County EMS to support any resource needs that they have.” stated Director, Public Information Officer at MEMA, Vanessa Corson.
Flooding is also likely in some locations though it’s not expected to be as catastrophic as the storm that came through on December 18th.
However, officials do say that trees may be weakened from that storm.
