Community mourning the unexpected death of Caribou Fire Captain

CARIBOU, Maine (WABI) - Caribou Fire & Ambulance Department is mourning the loss of their Captain after he died in a crash Thursday afternoon.

It happened on Route 1 in Caribou.

Police say Daniel Raymond, 57, was killed when Vincent Smith, 37,of Kansas lost control of the box truck he was driving due to poor road conditions and hit Raymond’s vehicle.

Raymond died at the scene.

Smith was taken to a local hospital and later released.

Captain Daniel Raymond worked for the department for 28 years, holding the rank of Captain for seven of those years.
