Two people killed in Dixmont crash

DIXMONT, Maine (WABI) - The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says two people were killed in a crash in Dixmont on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened on Western Avenue (Route 9) around 12:30 p.m.

The names of those who died have not yet been released.

According to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, their early investigation shows a sedan traveling west crossed over the center line, hitting a sedan traveling east head-on.

Both vehicles were occupied by the drivers only.

The road will be closed for a extended period of time, while police continue to investigate.
