Man arrested in Lewiston fatal shooting
28-year old Mark John Sinclair of Lewiston is charged with murder
LEWISTON, Maine (WMTW) - Maine State Police have identified the suspect and victim in a fatal Lewiston shooting Sunday.
The agency announced Monday that Mark John Sinclair, 28, of Lewiston is charged with murder in connection with the death of John Paquin, 20, of Worcester, Massachusetts.
“He was always being silly and fun, he loved to laugh, and hold his loved ones close. He was incredibly loyal, and had a very very bright future ahead of him,” said Kelsea Vincent, who identified herself as Paquin’s significant other.
Investigators say around 4 p.m. Sunday investigators responded to a report of gunshots on Howe Street.
Paquin was found with gunshot wounds and taken to Central Maine Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
“He was an amazing guy. 21 years old with a full life to live ahead of him. He had tons of family and friends that he loved so deeply,” Vincent said.
According to police, around 1:30 a.m. Monday a search warrant was executed at Sinclair’s home on Howe Street in connection with his arrest earlier in the evening.
Sinclair held active warrants for charges including domestic violence terrorizing, criminal mischief and violation of bail.
Around noon Monday, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Paquin and ruled his death a homicide.
Sinclair is being held without bail at the Androscoggin County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned later this week.
