PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) - Keegan Richardson, 28, of Seal Cove, was sentenced Thursday in federal court for three counts of production of child pornography, one count of transportation of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Darcie N. McElwee.

U.S. District Judge Lawrence E. Walker sentenced Richardson to 70 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release. Richardson must also pay $29,000 in restitution.

Richardson pleaded guilty on Oct. 4, 2021.

On July 6, 2020, Richardson was discovered by an undercover FBI agent after entering a private chat group over the internet. According to the agent, the chat group was a place for people to discuss and trade original child sexual abuse material of underage children, along with links to child pornography.

Richardson shared multiple sexually explicit images of the minor with the agent, confirming that he had access to this minor.

A search warrant was issued, and investigators were able to discover that Richardson had access to two additional minors. Both his residence and phone had evidence of these charges. A forensic examiner discovered explicit images of three minors on Richardson’s phone. The investigation found that Richardson also obtained child sexual abuse material involving different minors.

Multiple units were involved in this investigation which led to the arrest of Richardson: The FBI, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police, and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
