Shea made the move while Jai Steadman was the team’s interim head coach, then Chris Markwood took over.

He explained that he stayed positive as he communicated with Coach Markwood, and was happy that he still had his preferred walk-on spot.

Shea understood that in the competitive world of college basketball, it wasn’t a guarantee.

“He’s kept it real with me. I’m excited to go meet him on April 18. You’ve got to do what’s right to be able to win games and make it as far as you can. I was definitely hoping they would, as anybody else would be. I’m really glad things worked out,” said Shea.

Shea will join the team for fall and winter workouts hoping to eventually earn a scholarship.
